Communicating Knowledge
a) Being able to communicate in oral and written format
Regarding oral communication ability, below are the two presentations I gave at 5th International Cognitive Load Theory Conference held at Florida State University in 2012. I was the only presenter of two different presentations offered in that conference. Further, these two cover this ability because:
Regarding oral communication ability, below are the two presentations I gave at 5th International Cognitive Load Theory Conference held at Florida State University in 2012. I was the only presenter of two different presentations offered in that conference. Further, these two cover this ability because:
- The design of the presentation or PowerPoint slides, specifically speaking, aligns with the theme of the conference: cognitive load: It does so by putting little verbal information on the slides but including more pictorial information, which really makes the presenter communicate content verbally. In other words, it makes it necessary to explain the content of the visual information verbally to the audience.
- They reduce cognitive load on the part of the audience, which is also encouraged by black and white presentation of the content (i.e., white background and black content on it).
- The audience does not have the chance to read everything directly from the slides, the presenter naturally creates a need to pay attention to the presentation on the part of the audience.
- All these encourage audience to ask questions in order to grasp the content of the presentation fully thus forcing the presenter to orally communicate.

As for written communication, the following papers, I think, are capable of demonstrating this ability. The first one is a book review recently published in The Turkish online Journal of Distance Education. The second one is an article manuscript that is almost ready to go for a review of publication.

b) Being able to effectively communicate content through the design and delivery of teaching/learning activities that integrate content and pedagogy
The task analysis below completed as part of EDCI 57200 underscores this ability since it focuses on a specific learning task targeted at a specific content as well as pedagogy. Specifically speaking, it is about how to encourage patients with diabetes to exercise more effectively largely based on pscyho-motor and conceptual learning. The relevant pedagogy stems basically from situated cognition, self-regulated learning, and learning by doing thus encouraging transfer of learning.

c) Being able to adapt instruction and assessment techniques to the needs of diverse learners
The task analysis below is specifically constructed to meet the needs of the target learner group: Patients with diabetes type 1. In order to achieve this, the following were paid attention to in the analysis:
