Creating Knowledge
a) Demonstrating ability to describe common research methods in educational technology

Below is the methods chapter I wrote as part of EDPS 63000 course requirements. I think it addresses this aspect of the creating knowledge competence by:
- Describing previous research methods employed specifically in relation to Community of Inquiry Framework (e.g., Garrison, Anderson, & Archer, 2000, 2001, 2010) and Cognitive Load Theory (e.g., Sweller, 1988, 1994, 2005, 2010; Sweller, Ayres, & Kalyuga, 2011). These include but are not limited to survey research, analysis of variance (ANOVA), quantitative content analysis, qualitative content analysis, bivariate correlational analysis, structural equation modeling, and factor analysis.
- Offering a new research methodology (ordinal regression) thereby adding to previous methodologies used and integrating the two theories meaningfully in one single research study.

b) Demonstrating ability to read and evaluate educational technology research
You can find a critical literature review I wrote as a part of the literature review of my dissertation and as a preliminary exam paper. Bringing critical insights into a large scope of research reviewed, I think this paper displays the mastery of the ability to read and evaluate technology research depending on:
You can find a critical literature review I wrote as a part of the literature review of my dissertation and as a preliminary exam paper. Bringing critical insights into a large scope of research reviewed, I think this paper displays the mastery of the ability to read and evaluate technology research depending on:
- A large amount of previous research reviewed.
- Integration of the findings of quite different studies that were conducted in different times and under different experimental conditions.
- Identifying the gaps existing in this literature or what needs to be further known.
- Pointing out key research studies that may directly relate to the current study in question and digging deeper into it.

c) Applying research findings to the solution of common problems in educational technology
The final paper I wrote for EDCI 67300, I think, is good at covering this since it:
The final paper I wrote for EDCI 67300, I think, is good at covering this since it:
- Reviews previous research on a given topic critically and identifies a significant knowledge gap.
- Builds on the researcher`s previous few research that followed a similar research design path thus completing their insights or findings.
- Focuses on a common problem in educational technology: Increasing student teaching presence emanating from distribution of teaching presence responsibilities.
- Identifies highly potential variables that might address the problem or encourage increasing student teaching presence.
